 Chemistry Workshops

Eliminate the mystery in chemistry! Explore one of the most exciting and fundamental sciences as you watch sand float on top of water and take home your very own Dynamic Dish!

 (most appropriate for grades 3-6)

Dry Ice Capades

Manipulate matter in all of its three states! Melt metal in boiling water and freeze water with just a breath of dry ice! Use your Thermocolor Cup to test the temperature of liquid matter in your home!

 (most appropriate for grades K-6)

Glow Show

Discover amazing things that glow bright in the dark and come to light! Probe the properties of light and explore some unusual applications of glow-in-the-dark technology! Find out how fluorescence can be used to catch counterfeiters and how chemiluminescence can be used to make a light bulb in a bottle! Note this program requires the ability to darken the room.

 (most appropriate for grades K-6)

Matter of Fact

Delve into the nuts and bolts of the universe as we explore molecules and how they are held together. Mix up a batch of your very own Mad Science Putty to take home!

 (most appropriate for grades 3-6)

pH Phactor

Slide down the colorful pH scale and dip into the world of acids and bases! Explore the pH extremes with your Reaction Tube in what is sure to be a popping experience! Discover how ph paper can show whether liquids found in your home are acids or bases!

 (most appropriate for grades 3-6)

Playing with Polymers

Students will explore the plethora of polymers that play an integral role in our daily lives as they begin to understand the role that chemistry plays in creating these products. The workshop concludes with the creation of slime!

 (most appropriate for grades 3-6)

Slime Time

Ooze into a gooey hour of sliming around! Create slime using the Mad Science recipe, and then enter your creation the Slime Olympics! When class is over, take home your own beautiful concoction of Mad Science Slime!

 (most appropriate for grades K-6)

Slippery Science

This workshop introduces students to the properties of polymers. Through a hands-on approach students explore different polymer materials, including a variety of household materials and an example of non-Newtonian fluid! Students finish the class by creating their own slime.

 (most appropriate for grades K-3)

Super Sticky Stuff

Stick it to the walls in this adhesive hour on things that cling! Push the power of tape to the limits! Explore mechanical adhesion alongside chemical adhesion! Build a bond with glue and get attached to Professor Beakerdude!
